What is a Probity Checking Account?
A Probity Checking Account is unique in the banking industry. To the best of our knowledge, Probity Checking Accounts are the only checking accounts that don’t charge any overdraft fees or interest when you are overdrawn – none, nada, never. Instead, we charge one flat, fixed, predictable fee of $29.95 each month.

Am I eligible for an Onine Checking Account?
- Who is eligible to apply for an Online Checking Account?
Online Checking Accounts are for anyone who:
· Is 18 years or older,
· Is a U.S. citizen or resident alien living anywhere in the United States, and
· Has regular Internet access.
Even if you've been denied by other financial institutions because of credit, ChexSystems or Telecheck reports, a Probity Online Checking Account may be the right choice for you. Generally speaking, we open most checking accounts unless there is suspected fraud, a history of excessive checking account abuse or we are unable to verify your identity through our online systems or by documentation you provide to us. We consider excessive checking account abuse to be situations where reporting agencies have indicated that an applicant has had their checking account closed by more than three financial institutions because of unpaid overdrafts or has had a checking account closed by a financial institution where the total amount of unpaid overdrafts was greater than $1,500.00.

What fees are associated with my Online Checking Account?
- If I don’t have enough money in my checking account to cover a check or debit card transaction, will a fee be charged to my checking account?
No. Because we offer a checking account with no overdraft fees, the only fee you will be charged is your monthly fee. But, if checks exceed your overdraft protection limit, they’ll be returned and the payee may charge a returned check fee.
- Are there other hidden fees for things like depositing a check that bounces, stopping payment on a lost check or calling a customer service representative?
No. You’ll pay a single monthly fee that covers all of the services most checking account customers use to operate their account on a regular basis. We do charge a $25 fee for placing a stop payment on transactions. Supply items (like checks) and special services (like overnighted items) will be charged to your checking account only when you purchase/use them and you will be notified of these fees in advance - there won't be any surprises.
- Will I be charged a fee if I withdraw money from an ATM?
We do not charge a fee for ATM withdrawals. However, the owner of the ATM will charge a fee that could range from $1 to $3 per withdrawal. To avoid these fees, ask for “cash back” when making purchases with your debit card.

Opening and Using an Online Checking Account
- How do I open an Online Checking Account and how long does it take?
To open a checking account, simply apply online. You’ll need a current driver’s license or passport and a U.S. Social security number. The application takes about 10-30 minutes to complete and checking accounts are generally activated within one business day.
After your checking account is activated, you should allow 7 to 10 business days for delivery of checks (if checks have been requested) and 10 to 12 business days for delivery of your debit card. Your debit card PIN will arrive in the mail within a few days after your debit card.
- If I don’t have enough money in my checking account to cover my checks or my ATM / debit card transactions, will my checks be returned and my ATM / debit card transactions denied?
Probity Checking Accounts come with Overdraft Protection which means that all transactions up to your overdraft limit will be paid. Initial overdraft limits are based primarily on credit history and the status of prior banking relationships. When you open and begin making deposits to a Probity Checking Account, you may be eligible for an overdraft limit of up to $250. After 90 days of active and satisfactory checking account use, you may be eligible for an increase in the limit up to a maximum of $500. Overdraft protection is a non-contractual discretionary service and we reserve the right to not establish an overdraft limit and to change this limit at any time at our discretion. Additionally, we may not pay overdrafts within the limit if we determine that your checking account is not in good standing.
- How can I make deposits to my Online Checking Account?
We recommend that payroll and government checks be deposited by direct deposit so that funds are available in your checking account on the day you're paid. Direct deposit forms are available in “Forms” on this web site. Deposits can also be made by mail. Deposits by mail should be sent to:
